A complete client checklist
Booking a photoshoot is an exciting experience, but to get the best results, it’s important to be prepared! There’s a lot to consider leading up to your session, and taking a little time to plan ahead will ensure everything runs smoothly. Think of this blog as your ultimate photoshoot prep checklist!
When I think about preparing for a session, I like to go back to the basics—those investigative words we all learned in grade school: who, what, when, where, why, and how.

Who’s Taking My Photos?
One of the most important steps in preparing for a photoshoot is choosing the right photographer. Every photographer has a unique style, so it’s essential to research their portfolio and find someone whose work aligns with your vision.
Additionally, check their reviews! Make sure they’re legitimate and reflect the experience you’re looking for. A great photographer should not only take beautiful photos but also make you feel comfortable and confident during the session.
What Kind of Photos Do I Want? What Should I Wear?
The type of photos you’re booking should already be clear, but choosing the right outfit is just as important! Your clothing plays a huge role in setting the tone of your images. Here are some key things to consider:
✔ Confidence is everything! Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and empowered because it will absolutely shine through the camera.
✔ Are the colors flattering? Choose shades that complement your skin tone and hair.
✔ Does the outfit work with the location? You don’t want to blend in too much or clash with the environment.
Not sure what to wear? I’m always happy to give recommendations! Feel free to reach out with any outfit ideas or questions.
Where Is the Session? Are There Fees?
Before the big day, confirm the exact location of your session. Some parks, beaches, and venues charge an entry or parking fee (typically $2 to $10). These fees are your responsibility, and I’m not liable for any unpaid parking tickets or towing incidents.
One week before your session, check your email for specific location details, including where we’ll meet.
Why Are We Taking These Photos?
It might seem like an obvious question, but really thinking about the purpose of your photos will help tie everything together. Are they for a special event? Professional branding? A personal milestone?
Understanding the “why” can guide your outfit choices, location selection, and overall vibe of the session.

WHEN IS MY SESSION?
Timing is everything! Make sure you know exactly what time your session starts and plan to arrive early. If the location requires parking and a short walk, factor that into your schedule so you’re not rushing at the last minute.
Being early is always a plus—it not only ensures a stress-free start but may also result in extra photos!
How Am I Getting to My Session?
Plan your transportation ahead of time! Whether you’re driving, taking an Uber or Lyft, or using public transit, make sure you allow enough time to get there without stress.
Bonus Tip: Pack a Photoshoot Bag!
To be fully prepared, I always recommend bringing a small photoshoot essentials bag with you. Here’s what to include:
🎒 Hairbrush & touch-up makeup
🎒 Stain remover (just in case!)
🎒 A backup outfit
🎒 A towel & umbrella (Florida weather can be unpredictable!)
🎒 Water to stay hydrated
These little details can make a big difference in keeping you comfortable and ready for anything.
